Of bleary eyes, weary minds and heavy heads ! Reached home 'this morning', in the cool, blissful wee hours, with some pricey alcohol in the veins :-). Needless to say, we (the part-time golfers/fairway gardeners) have had a hell of a good time, albeit starting off with a really empty stomach - waiting for the ever busy MSD guy, who else. Nice of HC to go pick up his car in the rain and ferry 4 dudes (Ivan, ST, TF & Huat) around town - Thanks HC, we should do this more often !
After much debating where to eat, taking into consideration the location (which we could do better actually - read on) and price (don't want to slaughter the MSD Project Manager, you know), we finally agreed to go to Kristal Point. Wanted to dine at Shang Place, but was closed and then went to check out this new Jap's barbecue place beside Mumbai but realized it was so darn expensive after scanning the menu. So, we plodded on to Flame - should have listen to yours truly in the very first place as I was suggesting steamboat due to the nice cooling weather ! It's my first time there actually, and well, food is good, and we ordered quite a lot also.
Ha-ha, after the hearty meal (Thanks Huat !), now comes another debate, of where to adjourn to. Night was still young, and just about the only criteria was no beer but had to be an alcohol related outing, for the sake of HC (long story, not going to mention here). So, off we went to Roo's cellar for some wine, but we never thought a nice wine place like that closed at 9:00 pm ! Duh ! There goes another long deliberation of where to go next, as the criteria now is somewhere (still wine) nice, can chat and not too expensive (ya, right !). So, the list goes on, Pulau Tikus, Gurney Drive, Penang Road, ......
After rolling around town checking out a few places which we rejected - shop closed, too shabby, too wet, or too far lar, we ended up at Bagan, which I don't really mind, coz I've never been there plus they have a live band. Now, remember we ate at Flame ? Ha-ha, if you know where Bagan is, Flame is just beside it ! Duh ! Great minds think alike, ya right :-)
So, of we went in - nice establishment - like the sofa set at the lavatory section (not inside the toilet lar, of course). The set-up is pretty comparable to Mansion 32, with separated portions for quiet dining or drinking, the pub counter, another section for the live band and finally, a nice cozy section for pool with a comfy looking sofa set - something like a private hang-out. Ha-ha, now come to the wine part, looking at the menu, somehow, we were conned to order a premium bottle of Shiraz, costing us a cool $300 ! We ended up slowly sipping and trying to enjoy every of this pricey moment ! Kinda dry when uncorked, but after an hour or so, it does taste a lot sweeter and warm - well, probably after realizing how much was it, the mind will try to convince itself that the wine DOES taste excellent ! As can be seen, we started off, hanging out at the live band section, sipping our 'premium' wine, and then, we staggered towards the pool room. Nice view (on the first floor) looking down onto the live band section, and with a cozy sofa to boot. They ought to change the crappy pool table though. Heaven knows how many times we have to call the waiter (or waitress ??) to come and unlock the table to retrieve the white ball. Ha-ha, and TF managed to hit one right off the table. Luckily it did not flew thru the windows and down to the dance floor :-)
Anyway, after 5 rounds or so of hilarious potting, we decided to leave, as HC had an early conference call (zzzz), and yours truly needed to drive back to Ipoh straight after work today (more zzzzz). So, all in all, it was really fun, and Thanks to all my golf pals for all the laughs, jabbering and the expensive bottle of Australian wine ! Ooh, ooh, ST sending out email to ask for $$ already.....
