First and foremost, a very Happy Deepavali to all those who are celebrating this festival of lights. Seems like (at least in Ipoh), there is a lot more fireworks than say, Chinese New Year ! Was also invited for a decent Deepavali Open House on Saturday night, just a couple house down the road. Viv was still harping how she did not manage to lay her mouth on some Ghee balls.
Anyway, I'm watching the replay of the Liv-Chelsea game as I'm authoring this blog. I watched the first half at home, got a call just before half time to go out for a drink with my friends, and after much persuasion to pull me away from the tube, I finally gave in as they promised to go somewhere with a big screen showing the fabled game - we finally ended up at a hawker center. Our first idea was to drop by the Tasek Road's McDonald's as they have 2 nice and big LCD screens, but as usual, it was dead-packed with soccer fans. Well, as we sat down, luckily the score was still 1-up to Liv, and with half an hour left. Atmosphere was pretty intense as we shared a table with 3 Liverpool fans (I presume since two of them were wearing the Reds' jerseys :-) ). All in all, everyone seemed to be pretty happy with the eventual outcome as it was concluded with clap of hands as the game ended.
Oh yeah, have had a political encounter on Sunday afternoon. As my family and I was having our brunch at the packed Ipoh Old Town (Thien Chun) Kai See Hor Fun shop, we met a pretty famous (ex) political figure. He was Datuk Seri Ling Liong Sik, busily enjoying his bowl of Kueh Tiau noodles, just beside our table. Wonder how many folks took note, as I only observed a couple of folks went up and say hello.
Fast forward to Deepavali Day, Viv and I brought the kids for some tennis and badminton at Clearwater GCC. Thanks to Andrew for hosting us ! Have had a great time pinging some tennis balls in the semi-indoor courts, followed by a seven 21-point set badminton game - Yes, SEVEN fun ones :-) Eventually, Team Viv, Ivan & Ryan lost 3-4 to Team Andrew & Chloe.
Received a surprise visit from an old friend in the afternoon, and while chatting with him, my doggy, Comet, slipped into the hall, and took a sip of my mango juice - luckily Chloe saw him slurping up the juice from the mug, else, yucks ! I would have been drinking dog's saliva without knowing it. Ugh ! Bad dog !
Last but not least, my congrats to Theng Theng and Boon on their Bridal Shower, on Deepavali Day ! Theng, don't forget to share some 'biscuits' ok !
Ciao !
